Blue Biscayne Waters

A hellish cloud of humidity hung hotly over the trail. The air felt surprisingly still for being right on the ocean, which added to the stifling moisture that pressed in on us. Brooke carried the baby on her back and pushed Matt in the stroller, and we stopped fairly often, for me to take pictures and for Matt to throw rocks into the water. At the end of the hike we found ourselves amongst an assortment of fishermen, prepping and casting nets and lines into the blue Biscayne waters. A friendly fisherman walked with us on the second half of the hike, and at the end offered us some fish to take home for dinner. I was impressed with how Brooke later cleaned, prepared, and grilled the dozen or so mackerel, and how delicious they came out. The kids celebrated with a resounding round of “fish heads.”
